re-organizing the forum subsections
You may have noticed some changes in our forum subsections as of today.
Earlier, Jeremy announced that we would be moving towards more use of Get Satisfaction. This is the site you can access by using the Feedback tab on every page of geocaching.com . The move has now happened. The following subsections are now part of the read-only archives which you can find by scrolling down to that part of the main forum index.- Geocaching.com Web Site
- Geocaching for iPhone
- Geocaching for Android
They will join the illustrious HamsterCaching subsection.

Database Server Maintenance May 5, 2010
Tonight around 10:30 PM Pacific Time (GMT -7), we'll be taking the database server offline to apply some important updates. The downtime for this work is anticipated to take under an hour.

Membership Downtime
Groundspeak is planning an upgrade to some key components of the membership process from tomorrow night through Thursday morning. You may notice some membership creation/renewal pages are unavailable during this time.
You will be able to continue using other areas of the site while we perform this maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Installing New Image Server
Starting in the next few minutes, we'll be swapping in new image server hardware which will hopefully alleviate the performance issues we've been experiencing during peak times. Over the course of the next hour or so, you may notice some strange behavior with images like broken links, but those should correct themselves shortly.
I'll post another update here when the swap has been complete.

Groundspeak Survey
Groundspeak began sending out a survey last week. It will be going out to many members (depending on your email preferences*) over the next several weeks.
We are using SurveyMonkey software to gather the info. The link provided in the message that you may receive is uniquely tied to the survey and your email address. Please do not forward the message, as the link will not work.
We hope that this survey will help us better understand the geocaching community so that we can improve our services, features and the general geocaching experience.
